Bridging the gap between higher education outcomes and current and future job market needs in partnership with the industry remains a core focus.
In parallel, the ministry is committed to advancing research by fostering a supportive environment for research institutions and researchers, launching pioneering initiatives that contribute to building a competitive economy rooted in knowledge, innovation, science, and technology.

HE. DR. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar has over 25 years of experience in senior executive positions in public and private sectors and across various industries including oil and gas, banking, education, and regulation of labour market.
The current Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research previously held the position of Director General of the Federal Authority of Government Human Resources (FAHR) in 2009, as well as the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Business Development – New Smelters at Dubai Aluminum Company (DUBAL). He also served as the Director General of the National Human Resources Development & Employment Authority (TANMIA) and worked for Dolphin Energy, Dubai Petroleum and HSBC.
Apart from his role as Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Excellency holds the following positions:

H.E. Al Awar holds a Ph.D. in Geology and Geochemistry from Colorado School of Mines (CSM), USA, 1995.
